Youths urged to be vigilant and protect rights of digital platform

USAID Open Spaces Zambia has urged youths to be vigilant and protect the rights of digital media platforms.

USAID Zambia advisory council member Dickson Jere says with social media creating various ways for public to voice out their views ,grievances and influence policy change government might want to restrict use of media platforms through strict laws and regulations.

Mr Jere has tasked the youths to ensure that they harness provisions of digital platforms effectively by bringing in change deserved in the country as it is a powerful tool used in promoting social justice, and demanding accountability.

Speaking at the Bloggers of Zambia commemoration of World Social Media Day in Lusaka, Mr. Jere has encouraged upcoming influencers to use their influential positions productively to discourage bad vices in society and harness the power for economic and social development.

And Bloggers of Zambia Chief Executive officer Richard Mulonga has advised youths to look at digital platforms as tools to contribute in strengthening of democracy and human development.
