Speaking during the GEF-SGP inception workshop today, UNDP Head Unit for Energy and Environment Carol Zulu says UNDP has been supporting 12 organizations providing each organization with 50 Thousand US Dollar grants.

Ms. Zulu says today 8 more organizations have been added to the small grants programme in Zambia to ensure that the grassroot community grows in implementing environmental conservation, climate change adaptation and various activities that contribute to reducing biodiversity.

She says UNDP believes that when local communities are empowered, they can contribute to significant change at national and global levels.

And National Steering Committee Representative Monica Chundama has urged the organizations receiving grants to manage their resources diligently.
