The National Food and Nutrition Commission says it is working at transforming Zambia’s food system to make it more resilient.
Commission Executive Director Muntanga Mapani says having a comprehensive food system in the country will help to address malnutrition among vulnerable groups which include , children under five years, pregnant and breastfeeding women and the differently abled.
She notes that malnutrition and poverty are common in vulnerable communities hence the commission’s resolve to transform the food system.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Food System Pathways meeting in Lusaka today ,Dr. Mapani said households would not have been facing food challenges if the country had a resilient food system.
