President Ndayishimiye Leaves For Burundi

President Evariste Ndayishimiye has concluded his 3-days state visit to Zambia this afternoon and departed for Burundi at 13:30 hours from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

ZANIS reports that President Hakainde Hichilema was on hand to see off his Burundian counterpart who was accorded a 21-gun salute by the Zambia 2nd Battalion infantry after which he inspected the guard of honour.

President Hakainde Hichilema also officially handed over two thousand kgs of Pannar and Seedco seed varieties to his counterpart as a donation from Zambia to Burundi.

While in the country, President Ndayishimiye and his team signed various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Zambia on various aspects including energy, agriculture and defence and security among others.

The Burundian President also took a tour of one of Zambia’s leading seed producers Seedco where he announced his country’s intention to purchase seed directly from the company and set up a branch in Burundi.

He also announced that his country has donated 5000 metric tonnes of relief food to Zambia to help the country as it manages the effects of the drought experienced in the 2023/2024 farming season.

President Ndayishimiye concluded his visit with the official opening of the 96th Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show.
