Minister of Youth, Sport and Art Elvis Nkandu has called on youths to take up opportunities that are meant to address the adverse effects of climate change.

Speaking during the launch of Pachipanda Innovation 3.0 by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and MTN Zambia Foundation, Mr Nkandu says the government will endeavor to implement policies that support the medium and small enterprises.

Mr Nkandu adds that his ministry will take advantage of such programmes to sensitise the young people on the importance of being part of the solution towards climate change.

“There is an urgent need to enhance conservation awareness campaigns in Zambia amidst the climate change in Zambia as we are living in a world full of environmental threats,” He said.

The Minister added that the government supports initiatives such as the Pachipanda innovation challenge that seek to find climate smart solutions to global issues.

Mr Nkandu emphasised that his presence at the event signifies the value that the government attaches to issues of climate change.

Mr Nkandu assured that the 3 winners will be given coaching and mentorship for idea implementation.

The initiative is a joint effort by MTN and WWF to inspire and support innovative solutions addressing pressing environmental challenges across Africa. It also adds significant value to the mobilising more for Climate (MM4C) Programme.

Mr Nkandu said specifically, the challenge contributes to achieving WWF’s core objectives of zero habitat loss, preventing species extinction, and promoting healthy populations.
