Agriculture Minister Mtolo Phiri says Authority has been granted to import 650,000 metric tonnes of Maize for both human and industrial consumption for the period April 2024 to April 2025.
Mr Phiri says this follows the declaration of a national disaster and Emergency by President Hakainde Hichilema due to the drought .
In a statement, Mr .Phiri said citizens are encouraged to take advantage of the business opportunity by sourcing none genetically modified white and yellow maize.
He further advised that the maize grain to be imported must conform to the Zambian Phytosanitary standards .
