Japan International Cooperation Agency ( JICA) President Dr. Tanaka Akihiko has observed that the construction of the first level one hospitals in Lusaka has increased the efficiency and effectiveness of the managements.

Speaking during the tour of the JICA project site at Chawama Level One Hospital in Lusaka, Dr. Tanaka has hailed the Ministry of Health for utilizing the facilities to the benefit of the people.

He says the agency approach is to provide hardware and software equipment to ensure that health service delivery is enhanced.

Dr. Tanaka is in the country to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between the republic of Zambia and Japan to further enhance the longstanding relationship between the two countries.

And Chawama Level One Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Shula Chanda says the upgrade of the health facility has reduced referrals to tertiary level and improved the quality of maternal and child outcomes.
