Appropriate skills required to accelerate productivity in the manufacturing sector-Takaiza

Technical Education Vocation and Entrepreneurship Training Authority  says Zambia’s strategic vision to increase the manufacturing sector output to 15% by 2026 requires appropriate skills to accelerate productivity .

Authority Director General Cephas Takaiza says this will be dependent on the availability of a skilled workforce that responds to the evolving demands of modern manufacturing processes.

Mr Takaiza explained that profiling current and future skills to achieve  the national vision for the manufacturing sector is an activity that cannot be done by training institutions alone.

Speaking at the Zambia Association of Manufacturers Skills Conference held under the theme “Enhancing Industry Trainer Collaboration for Sustainable Economic Growth “Mr Takaiza said  reaffirmed TEVETA’s  commitment to addressing skills gaps through establishing partnerships with various industries.

And Zambia Association of Manufactures Chief Executive Officer Muntanga Lindunda has called for development of a skilled workforce which can help transform Zambia.

Meanwhile ,Ministry of Technology and Science Permanent Secretary Brilliant Habeenzu has called for collaboration between government and the manufacturing sector in order to lower the cost of production.
