President Hichilema honours 16 freedom contributors, among them Cynthia Zukas, on African Freedom Day

AS part of the African Freedom day celebrations, 16 people among them, wife to prominent freedom fighter,Cynthia Zukas has been honoured and awarded.

The 16 have been honoured and awarded by President Hakainde Hichilema for playing a role in Africa’s freedom.

Mrs Zukas, the wife to the late Simon Zukas who is one of the founders for the Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) and was involved in the fight against the two Rhodesia’s and Nyasaland was one of those recognized.

Mrs Zukas was recognized in the category of the President’s Insignia for meritorious achievement.

Others honoured and recognized are Professor Elywin Nachanya Chomba who once served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy.

Prof Chomba was honoured and awarded in the division for the order of the eagle of Zambia third division.

Others are Father Michael Walsh, Major Mambwe Harrison Kampengele, Godfrey Mukamha and Elizabeth Nyangu

Under the President’s Insignia for meritorious achievement, President Hichilema honoured Gezepi Chakulunta, Yonah Mwale, Robert Banda,Cecilia Kabubi, Sister Mary Courtney and Kambadya Banda (Chief Kathumba).

Further, the Head of State honoured Emmanuel Bwalya, Tobias Kandanda and Samuel Ernest.
