Lusaka, Zambia – It was a momentous day for the team at Zululand Energy and Weaverbird as we welcomed the esteemed Republican President of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, to our exhibition stand at the China-Zambia High Quality Development Forum. The president’s visit marks a significant recognition of the innovative home solar solutions these companies are providing in the face of Zambia’s ongoing load shedding crisis.
As the president perused the various solar-powered devices and systems on display, the representatives of Zululand Energy and Weaverbird we took the opportunity to demonstrate how our products could alleviate some of the challenges faced by ordinary Zambians during power outages. The team highlighted the benefits of sustainable energy and discussed potential strategies for making high-quality solar equipment more accessible to the general populace.
The government’s role in supporting renewable energy initiatives was a key topic of conversation. The Zululand and Weaverbird representatives proposed ways in which the government could help reduce costs, such as subsidising solar technology or providing tax incentives to manufacturers and consumers alike. We emphasized that with the right support, solar solutions could not only offer immediate relief from load shedding but also contribute to the nation’s long-term energy security and economic development.
President Hichilema expressed his appreciation for the innovative efforts of both companies and acknowledged the importance of embracing renewable energy sources. He assured the team that the government is committed to exploring avenues to make renewable energy technologies more affordable and accessible.
The forum concluded on a high note, with renewed hope and excitement for the future of energy in Zambia. The phrase “One day fikachitika” – meaning “One day it will happen” – echoed through the event, capturing the optimistic spirit that change is on the horizon.
