Calls to prioritize teacher professional development

Lusaka District Child Welfare Society Board Chair Kenny Zuze urged stakeholders, policymakers, and educational leaders across the continent to prioritize teacher professional development as a critical vehicle for achieving the delivery of effective, engaging, and experiment-based learning.

Mr. Zuze was part of the African Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authority (AFTRA) 11th Summit which took place in Livingstone, Zambia.

He said this year’s theme, “The Teacher we need for the education we want,” resonates deeply with society’s mission of empowering children through quality education and nurturing.

Mr. Zuze added that quality education begins with quality teachers and are the cornerstone of educational system, guiding and inspiring the next generation.

“Without skilled and passionate educators, the pursuit of excellence in education remains elusive. At the heart of our advocacy lies the belief that teacher professional development is paramount in shaping the future of education”, said Zuze.

He said it is through continuous learning and growth that teachers can adapt to evolving educational paradigms and deliver effective, engaging, and experiential learning experiences to their students.

He said institutions of learning serve as the crucible for teacher professional development.

Mr. Zuze says by investing in robust training programs, mentorship initiatives, and opportunities for collaboration, paves the way for educators to thrive and excel in their noble profession.

He has urged stakeholders to ensure that every child has access to the quality education they deserve, guided by competent and compassionate teachers who embody excellence in their craft.
