Minister of Transport and Logistics Frank Tayali says government has continued to invest heavily in airport infrastructure development and embarked on the rehabilitation and construction of provincial and strategic airports to improve connectivity within the country.
Speaking during the launch of the Aviation Week Africa Summit 2024, Mr. Tayali says the aviation week represents remarkable achievements that have propelled the Africa’s is the aviation sector to new heights.
He says it is imperative to acknowledge the pivotal role that the aviation plays in economic development, facilitating trade and tourism as well as enhancing connecting communities both locally and globally.
Mr. Tayali has urged stakeholders in the aviation sector to leverage collective expertise, resources and ingenuity to propel Africa’s aviation industry to greater heights and ensuring that it serves as a catalyst for economic growth, social progress and global connectivity.
He says there is need to work towards attaining the single African Air Transport Market to help leverage the limitations and create vibrant aviation ecosystem on the continent.
And speaking at the same event, Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary Evans Muhanga says the relationship that exists between the aviation and tourism sectors enable visitors from within and beyond the boundaries get to the various rich Tourism sites dotted around Zambia.
