The private and public sectors urged to work together and effectively implement Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

Government has emphasized the need for enhanced knowledge and capacity building in both the private and public sectors to effectively implement Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Mike Mposha, reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to joining global efforts in utilizing carbon markets to achieve nationally determined contributions.

Mr Mposha says Zambia has initiated the process of institutionalizing a governance framework and supporting structures to facilitate the implementation of Article 6.

He however noted that the availability of resources for implementation and operationalization of carbon market activities remains a significant challenge.

The Minister was speaking during a bilateral meeting with a German delegation came during a meeting with a German delegation in Lusaka.

And Parliamentary State Secretary for the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action Stefan Wenzel has commended government’s efforts in addressing the challenges and build capacity which he says is vital in unlocking the potential of carbon markets to drive climate action.
